For the international unity of the working class:Australian workers are part of an international class. Economic hardship, declining living standards and unemployment affect workers of all nationalities, races and ethnic backgrounds. Workers in Australia must give their unstinting support to their counterparts overseas, and seek the assistance of their class brothers and sisters for their own struggles. At the same time, they must actively combat any attempt to drive a wedge between workers here along racial, ethnic or religious lines. Every capitalist party - not simply those of the extreme right - seeks to shift the profit system's responsibility for the lack of jobs and services onto the backs of immigrant workers, thereby fomenting enmity, resentment and divisions. The SEP rejects all forms of nationalism and racism. Our position is that jobs, health, education, housing and welfare should be considered social rights, equally available to all, regardless of race, colour or nationality. If the economy were organised on a rational basis, there would be more than plenty for everyone. |
