Expand and improve public education!The SEP upholds the right of all, regardless of income, to free, high quality education. We call for a massive injection of funds into all levels of the public education system, not only to abolish illiteracy and innumeracy, but to raise the cultural level of the entire population. Billions of dollars must be allocated to upgrading kindergartens, schools, techs and universities and equipping them with the most advanced tools of learning, including computers, video cameras, modern laboratory facilities and well-stocked libraries. ESL and all remedial programs must be reinstituted and thousands more teachers hired and trained. Tertiary fees and loans schemes must be abolished and higher education made available free of charge to all those wishing to undertake it. |
