Raise living standards and eradicate poverty!The SEP demands an immediate increase in all pensions and benefits to the level of a proper wage. The minimum wage must be raised to $15 an hour and fully indexed to compensate for cost-of-living increases. Furthermore, automatic cost-of-living increases, adjusted monthly, must be instituted for every worker's wage, as well as for all welfare recipients. Evictions and foreclosures, as well as the cutting off of electricity, gas, water or telephone services to the unemployed or to welfare recipients must be outlawed. |
